Yarrabilba, meaning ‘place of song’,
was originally inhabited by the Wangerriburra Clan of the Yugambeh language group.
European settlers arrived in the 19th century, including William Steele, who established Albert Park around 1862. The Seymore families, Plunkett, Walsh, and others were also early settlers, contributing to the area’s development through agriculture and politics. Steele’s Falls, Steele’s Road, and the Logan Village Cemetery are historical landmarks tied to these settlers. Thomas Plunkett played a significant role in local politics and infrastructure, including the railway from Logan Village to Canungra. William Walsh was a pioneering farmer in the region, known for his large property, Munster Vale. These settlers and their descendants shaped the Yarrabilba we know today, leaving behind a rich historical legacy.
This a group for the yarrabilba community (and neighbouring suburbs ie Jimboomba, Logan village, Tamborine and cedar vale) to support each other and stay updated...
Let's not wait for council pick ups! If you have anything to give away for free, post it here! One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Hello Yarrabilba residents, this group has been created for community support, awareness and events. As it grows with members, more exciting things are to follow.
